Klopp on Salah and Liverpool’s ‘perfect day’ at the office

Jurgen Klopp has poured praise on Mohamed Salah following his two goals and “great runs” in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Salah scored twice in the first half to put the Reds into a two-goal lead at half-time before Philippe Coutinho wrapped up the points with an easy finish after the break.

The Egyptian’s first was particularly impressive as he curled an effort high into the net from 18 yards out and Klopp was delighted with a “perfect day” at the office.

“Difficult game, Southampton are a really good football side,” Klopp said. “It was an open game, we had more chances before we scored. We need to be patient in a lively way.

“The first goal, wow, I have nothing to do with the goal and the second was a fantastic pass and Mo Salah makes great runs. We could have scored more often but it was a perfect day for us.”

Meanwhile, Southampton boss Mauricio Pellegrino thought their mistakes cost them at Anfield, he said: “We started well with energy, with shape and didn’t give them too much space to create but we made a couple of mistakes and it was really difficult for us to come back.

“You cannot give the ball away too easily. In general, Liverpool were one pace more than us.”
