Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool were not at the races after Crystal Palace consigned the German to his first defeat as Reds boss.
Scott Dann’s late header secured a 2-1 win for Palace, who took the lead through Yannick Bolasie only to see Phillippe Coutinho equalise for the hosts.
And Klopp could not hide his disappointment after his team suffered their first loss in 13 matches.
“Today is a bad feeling – it was not necessary to lose this game. We were the better team, but for the first 15 minutes we were not on the pitch. We got the goal, we were awake, we started creating chances,” he said.
“But after the break, we gave them chances to cause us problems. Then we woke up again, but then couldn’t make a goal. It feels so bad because it was not necessary. This was not enough for us – we can do more. We have to learn from this.”
The result leaves Liverpool in 10th place, seven points off the top four.
