Jurgen Klopp: Appreciates United's strong squad

Jurgen Klopp admits he couldn’t “ignore the power and potential” of Manchester United during Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s late headed goal cancelled out James Milner’s first-half penalty and left both managers wanting more than a point from the match.

And Klopp reckons if Liverpool had had a slice of “luck” to win the match then it would have been “deserved” – but admits it was tough to ignore United’s depth of quality.

“I thought we really dealt with the situation well,” Klopp told a press conference ahead of their FA Cup replay against Plymouth on Wednesday.

“In the end we cannot ignore the power and potential of Man United. When you saw who came on, that’s not too bad?

“We needed a bit of luck to win the game, and I would say it would have been deserved. But it’s gone already.

“We had our chances to score second against United and could have closed the game earlier. But I haven’t thought a lot about it.”
