Sadio Mane (r): Celebrates Southampton's second goal against Chelsea

Ronald Koeman accepts Southampton may have to prepare for life without Sadio Mane if the forward continues his current form.

Mane impressed during the Saints’ 3-1 win at Chelsea, scoring one goal and setting up another as Southampton plunged the champions deeper into crisis.

But Koeman has warned fans to enjoy watching Mane in a Saints shirt while they can, admitting the club may be powerless to stop the forward following in the footsteps of the likes of Luke Shaw, Morgan Schneiderlin, Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana in leaving St Mary’s.

“OK, maybe one day we will lose Mane but then we have to be prepared,” he told the Daily Echo.

“You know in our situation that kind of players, if they play like today, there will come a lot of interest in the end of the season. But now we enjoy watching Mane in our team.”

Koeman was delighted with Mane’s contribution at Stamford Bridge.

“He is very fast and he is showing also now to be very clever out of his positions,” the manager added.

“I think he changed well the position in front and it was difficult for Chelsea to defend well.

“Of course, then if you play good football, you need that kind of player on the top level they can bring. He was fantastic.”
