Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos believes that moving to Real Madrid instead of Manchester United was the “correct” decision.
The Germany World Cup-winner had the option of signing for United or Real in the summer of 2014, but chose the La Liga giants in a move which cost Real £20million.
After starring for Germany at the Brazil World Cup Louis van Gaal was eager to bring the 27-year-old midfielder in at Old Trafford.
But after wining La Liga and two Champions League trophies in three years after leaving Bayern, Kroos is sure he made the right choice.
“My change of team was correct – in fact, from my point of view there is no doubt about it,” said Kroos.
“Clearly, if you go abroad to a top club, it means one more step in your development.
“Carlo Ancelotti wanted me in Madrid, and had bet on me.”
Former United boss David Moyes has admitted Kroos was a target for United in 2013.
“I wanted to bring Kroos to Manchester United, from Bayern. I thought his range of passing and his ability to play people in would have made him a top United player, maybe Scholes’ heir. He’s gone on and shown at Real Madrid what a fantastic footballer he is,” said Moyes.
While a report in March by Spanish news outlet Diario Gol suggested Kroos would have been keen on a transfer to Manchester United this summer if Real Madrid fail to lift silverware this season.
