Radamel Falcao: Struggled to make an impact at Chelsea

Atletico Madrid and Valencia rejected the chance to sign Chelsea misfit Radamel Falcao on deadline day, according to reports.

The Daily Telegraph suggest Chelsea gave Falcao permission to travel to Spain, while agent Jorge Mendes tried to find his client a new club.

Both Atletico Madrid, where the Colombian enjoyed two prolific seasons, and Gary Neville’s Valencia passed up on the opportunity, a damning indictment of how far the striker’s stock has fallen over the past two campaigns.

Falcao has scored just once for the Blues this season, and has not played since October due to a thigh injury.

This follows a dreadful season on loan at Manchester United, where the 29-year-old scored only four goals.

Clubs in China remain interested in Falcao, especially Jiangsu Suning, who recently splashed the cash to sign Chelsea midfielder Ramires.

The transfer window in China does not shut until February 26, meaning Falcao could still depart Stamford Bridge before the end of the season.
