Adam Lallana believes having a fit Daniel Sturridge back for Liverpool is akin to having two new signings at Anfield.

The Reds striker endured a difficult 2016/17 campaign after a series of fitness issues saw him drift out of favour with Jurgen Klopp.

But the player has returned fighting fit in pre-season and claims to be in the best shape of his career as he bids to salvage his Anfield career.

And the player’s return to fitness has been welcomed by Lallana, who knows all too well what a fit and firing Sturridge can bring to Liverpool.

“Studge has been absolutely brilliant in pre-season so far,” he said.

“He is looking really sharp, and to have him firing on all cylinders would be like having two new signings if we can keep him on the pitch and get him scoring goals. He is a world class player.

“He has come back from the summer looking absolutely brilliant, so fit. He is going to be a massive player for us this season. I can feel it. You couldn’t put a price on him.”
