Frank Lampard has admitted he has no idea where John Terry will end up this summer as the defender looks for a new club.
Terry has been strongly linked with a move to Birmingham City and Aston Villa in the Championship after talks of a switch to Bournemouth cooled.
Villa have reportedly offered the 36-year-old a lucrative deal to drop down a division, but recent reports suggest they will have to wait for a decision.
“I speak to John fairly regularly but I don’t where he’s at at the moment,” Lampard told Sky Sports News HQ.
“It’s a difficult decision for John because having been such a legend at Chelsea, he’s got to move on.
“I know ideally he’d have liked to have finished his career at the club. It doesn’t always work that way and I know that first-hand. The fact is John has got so much credit at Chelsea and in football generally and he can make the decision he needs to.
“I honestly don’t know what that is, whether it’s staying in the Premier League, whether it’s playing in the Championship or going abroad. What John’s one in his career is the story and wherever he does go he will bring a great deal to them with his presence and his personality.
“It remains to be seen where he will end up but it’s his choice and he’ll do what’s best for him and his family.”
