Adam Lallana: Reds need to man up

The Scottish Football Association ruled that Lawless will serve a two-match ban immediately with four matches suspended until the end of next season.

The governing body had cited the 24-year-old last week for betting on 20 games in season 2012/13, 268 matches between September 2013 and April 2014 as well as 225 games between November and March 2015.

Under the Scottish FA’s rules players, coaches, club officials and referees in Scotland are banned from betting on football anywhere in the world.

Lawless joins Rangers pair Steve Simonsen and Ian Black as well as Ayr United’s Michael Moffat as players charged by the SFA over betting.

Meanwhile, Ross County midfielder Filip Kiss has had the red card he received against Hamilton Accies last week rescinded on appeal.

The Slovakian was sent off towards the end of County’s 2-1 home victory by referee Bobby Madden for lashing out at visiting defender Jesus Garcia Tena.

The decision amazed Kiss who protested his innocence and the SFA has now upheld his appeal on the grounds of wrongful dismissal freeing him to play in the club’s final match of the season at Kilmarnock on Saturday.
