David Seaman: Gives Wenger transfer advice

Arsenal legend David Seaman has urged Arsene Wenger to swoop for a headline-grabbing name to “give the club a lift” ahead of the new season.

The Gunners have signed just two players so far this summer – Granit Xhaka and Takuma Asano – in their quest to improve on a runners-up spot last season to claim a first Premier League title since 2004.

The club have been linked with numerous players, such as Alexandre Lacazette, Gonzalo Higuain and Julian Draxler, but Wenger appears to be no closer to a third purchase of the window.

Speaking to talkSPORT, former Arsenal keeper Seaman, who won 13 trophies with the club, and was managed by Wenger from 1996 until his departure in 2003, feels the club need a signing to boost morale.

“We still need a dominant centre-half,” he saod. “We’ll see what Granit Xhaka’s like in midfield, but ideally we need someone like Patrick Vieira. And a striker as well.

“He needs to buy someone to give the club a lift and give the fans a lift. Ideally a striker would be great, but either a centre-half or midfielder would do for me.”
