Claudio Ranieri has ruled out Leicester City stars Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez leaving the club in the January transfer window.
Leicester have been the surprise package of the Premier League this season and currently sit fifth after being tipped by many to be relegated under Ranieri.
Vardy is the league’s top goalscorer with nine and was rewarded with an England debut, while Mahrez has five goals and four asists.
“I hope [Vardy] can continue. He is a fantastic player for goals, but it’s not important to think about goals or not. It’s about how he plays for the team,” Ranieri said.
“We don’t sell him. He is very happy here and it’s too soon to talk about this. He will stay with us and nobody goes in January – not Riyad [Mahrez], not Jamie, not anyone.
“We want to improve and achieve our goal, and for that we need all our best players.”
It has been a remarkable rise from Vardy, who scored only five times last term and was playing for Fleetwood Town in the Conference three years ago.
“It’s the first year Jamie has shown his attitude in the Premier League. He scored 16 in the Championship and now it’s the start of his learning in the top championship. If he can continue in this way, it will be fantastic,” added Ranieri.
