Leicester City are reportedly set to rival Swansea City for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle – and also hope to sign Clement Chantome on Monday.
Claudio Ranieri has made public his desire to sign a new striker before the transfer deadline, with Ahmed Musa, Eder and Graziano Pelle among the players linked.
However, CSKA Moscow’s £19million asking price for Musa has seemingly put off Leicester, while Sampdoria’s Eder looks likely to join Inter Milan.
It has led the Foxes to move for Gayle, according to the Sunday People.
Swansea are reported to have made a £7million offer for the 25-year-old on Friday, with Bafetimbi Gomis a target for Newcastle United, but Leicester have now seemingly entered the race for a player that has fallen further down the pecking order at Selhurst Park following the arrival of Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Sunday People also says Leicester are hoping to sign Chantome from Bordeaux on Monday but are facing a fight to convince the French club to sell the midfielder having already lost Henri Saivet to Newcastle and Wahbi Khazri to Sunderland this month.
Chantome is out of contract in the summer, however, and could move for around £3milion.
beIN Sports, meanwhile, claim Leicester have had a £11.5million offer accepted for Chelsea striker Loic Remy.
