Leicester are without a manager following the sacking of Nigel Pearson earlier this week, but it has not stopped the Foxes from pressing ahead with their transfer plans.
They have failed with an opening £12million bid for Austin, a target for several Premier League club this summer, but look set to be granted permission by Caen to speak to Kante.
“At this present time, N’Golo Kante will not sign for Marseille,” the club’s general manager general manager Xavie Gravelaine said of the 24-year-old. “The current offer for N’Golo Kante from Marseille lacks respect.
“We will reach an agreement with Leicester City in the coming hours, the discussions will then be with the player.
“Financially we have no worries, it is not a problem for us to keep him.”
