Lindelof answers question about start to life at Man Utd

Victor Lindelof has spoken about his tough start to life at Manchester United.

The Swedish defender, who played in Sweden’s 2-0 defeat to Holland last night, has yet to appear in the Premier League for Manchester United.

The central defender arrived at Old Trafford for £31million in the summer from Benfica, but his game time has been restricted to Champions League and Carabao Cup action.

The 23-year-old has made just three appearances, plus the Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid and so far he has struggled to get up to speed for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Phil Jones’ absence in Europe allowed Lindelof the opportunity in the Champions League, but as yet it appears Mourinho is not keen to break up his centre-back pairing of Jones and Eric Bailly.

Despite Lindelof’s lack of action, he claims there is no problem at Old Trafford.

“When I get my chance I want to do everything I can to help the team,” Lindelof said on international duty in the Netherlands.

“That’s what I’ve been doing when I play Champions League. So, there’s no problem for me.

“I’m just there to do my job. I am enjoying life in England. We are playing well, I have good team-mates and good coaches and it is a competitive league. That’s what makes it the best in the world.

“We had a very good start and we want to continue and play good football. We have a very good squad. We go game-by-game. It is a big game on Saturday and we are looking forward to it.”

Lindelof conceded a penalty in the Swedes’ 2-0 qualifying defeat to the Dutch, but they have qualified for a World Cup play-off place regardless.

“That was very strange,” Lindelof added. “To be honest I don’t know what happened. The ball came very quickly and I tried to kick it away. My hand was there as well. It happens.”
