Granit Xhaka: Closing on Arsenal switch

Liverpool and Arsenal target Granit Xhaka has declared it is his “dream” to play in the Premier League.

The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder enforcer has been sent off three times this season in his 23 games this season, scoring three Bundesliga goals.

The 23-year-old’s pace and power has attracted the interest of several scouts from across Europe and Jurgen Klopp and Arsene Wenger are just two of the interested parties.

German newspaper Bild last month claimed that Xhaka had emerged as Klopp’s number one target for the summer and he had met with the Swiss midfielder’s agent, Andy Gross, last December.

The Switerland star’s current contract runs until 2019 and it’s believed he could be available for around £37million when the transfer market reopens in the summer.

“England is my dream. I do not hide it,” said Xhaka.

“Whether I’ll be happy there, only the good Lord knows.

“For me money is not important. Otherwise I would not move from Basel to Monchengladbach in 2012.

“It’s about being a big challenge for me as a footballer.”
