Liverpool are reportedly close to signing Udinese midfielder Piotr Zielinski – and have also been linked with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Liverpool have already signed Loris Karius, Joel Matip and Marko Grujic for next season, but Jurgen Klopp is seemingly far from done there, with Lorient left-back Raphael Guerreiro and Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze among the other players linked with moves to Anfield.
Now, according to Italian media outlet Il Messaggero, the Reds are close to completing the £11.6million signing of Zielinski.
It had been suggested the Poland international, who spent this season on loan at Empoli, had fallen behind Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud in Klopp’s list of preferred signings for the summer, with even Zielinski’s agent last week admitting his client’s Liverpool move “maybe” at risk.
However, the 22-year-old, reportedly recommended to Klopp by his assistant Zeljko Buvac, is now seemingly set for the Premier League after all despite rival interest from Napoli and Roma.
The same newspaper, incidentally, claims Mario Balotelli’s agent is in talks with Lazio regarding another possible season-long loan deal in Italy with a view to a permanent transfer.
More Liverpool transfer speculation
Liverpool are also ready to challenge Leicester City for the signing of Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to the Sunday Express.
The England midfielder has suffered a frustrating time with injuries, including one to his knee in February that ended his Euro 2016 hopes – and Arsene Wenger is said to be willing to let him leave Arsenal this summer.
One player that is unlikely to be at Liverpool next season is Barcelona right-back or winger Aleix Vidal, who was a target for Klopp but has been priced out of a move by the Spanish club’s £45million valuation, according to Mundo Deportivo.
