Inter Milan have confirmed that Samir Handanovic has agreed a deal to stay at the club until summer 2020.
The reported Liverpool target did have less than 18 months remaining on his deal, and was reportedly attracting interest from a range of clubs.
The 33-year-old is regarded as one of Europe’s top shot-stoppers, and his new deal is apparently worth around €3.2 million (£2.9 million).
This makes him one of Inter’s top earners, but he does still earn significantly less than team-mates Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “FC Internazionale Milano are delighted to announce the contract renewal of Samir Handanovic until June 30th 2021.
“The Slovenian shot-stopper, who was born in Ljubljana on July 14th 1984, joined Inter back in the summer of 2012, since going on to make 195 appearances in all competitions for the Nerazzurri.
“The Nerazzurri story between Inter and Handanovic continues!”
