Liverpool have reportedly been joined by Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign a Serie A defender in the summer.
Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a move for Lazio star Stefan De Vrij, who he reportedly wanted to place alongside countryman Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of the defence.
However, according to Il Messaggero, they now face competition now from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Man United.
The Italian outlet the English trio would like to sign the former Feyenoord man for free, but they are aware he is likely to sign a new deal.
The former Feyenoord defender has been in stellar form for Lazio this season, who have hopes have finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League.
Juventus are also reportedly interested in De Vrij, though it is believed the player’s preference is a move to England.
