‘He wants to win titles not for the club, but for his CV’

Liverpool’s 7-0 triumph is debated and will Jordan Henderson come under pressure? While Jose Mourinho’s future continues to stir debate, all in our Your Says…

‘Ox will prove his worth over the years’

Mate I rarely have a go at the lads, as long as they give it their all I never complain. Usually when they are out of form they are playing with a knock or something and often popping painkillers or something to get through games.

Oxlade is a good player and will probably prove his worth over the years.

On the other hand I’ll tear into the board and committee if I think they are not up to the challenge of providing the lads with a realistic title shot.

The all important early goal…

No posting frustrations from me during the game ( nothing to be frustrated about to be honest) & look what happens.

Well Bob there you go mate, it came. Total domination & that all important early goal showed why it’s so valuable for us.

Yes it was only Maribor but you can only beat what is in front of you & we done a pretty good job. Great to see Ox off the Mark & I think he will be a valuable player for us.

Can’t get too carried away though, very tough game v spurs coming up & they will also be full of confidence. Hopefully we will get the attempts to conversions we did today.

Salah as important as Mane?

Well i enjoyed that. salah is becoming as important as mane. we need to keep him fit. very wise to take him off after 55 mins.

two clean sheets in a row now. some great football to watch.

spurs is a tough game but they will come at us. I am confident we can get something there on sunday.

‘I fell asleep in the second half’

Lets be honest Maribor looked poor to say the least i fell asleep in the second half it was like a international friendly. Still 3 points & a bag full of goals to get the spirits up.

The reason why i rate Pep is the football his teams play is by far the best. No doubt he has had the best resources available but he gets the best out of them he also improves players take Sterling as an example since he left LFC he didn’t really improved until Pep came now he looks like he’s going up a level.

Id much rather have Pep with a blank cheque book then Mourinho with a blank cheque book.

Henderson may have to up his game

Ok fairly poor opposition but I did like the look of the midfield last night. Can was disciplined as the 6 and covered the full-backs when they attacked, Gini used the ball well and found good spaces and Milner was my man of the match with some superb attacking play. They all pressed very well too.

Hopefully this will put pressure on Henderson to up his game or maybe give Klopp the thought to switch Henderson and Can so that Can is the one that predominately sits, with Henderson doing what Milner did last night.

Who are these mythical owners?

Who are these owners that are gonna come in and buy the club for over £1billion AND pump unlimited amounts of cash into the club too all the while being respectful to Liverpools ways?

Who are they?
Where are they?
Why would they buy LFC?

Ox boo-boys need to ‘make their minds up’

Yous boys need to make yer minds up. 😂

Either he’s completely s*** and shouldn’t be anywhere near us or we should cut him some slack and give him some more game time.

gingerlfc

Dunno if your aiming that at me ginger but I was 1 of the few that were glad we got Ox & think he can bring something to the team.

Shanksy I agree it’s only 1 game but I thought he looked good in the limited time he got v manu as well. Hopefully this will be the start of a good run for not only him but a great confidence boost for the whole team, we needed it.

As you say it’s only 1 game & we have a very confident & in form team to play on the weekend so we can’t get too carried away.

At least I don’t think spurs will be sitting back too much & it will hopefully be a good clean & open game with the game decided by good play & not a ref decision. Looking forward to it.

Mourinho ‘constantly looking for new challenges’

I don’t think he’s happy to stay at one club and, although the PL is a competitive league, become comfortable.

He’s constantly looking for new challenges, if Utd ceases to be a challenge he’ll go, or else when he’s won a PL & A CL title. Then he’ll hand his medals to a fan, and go.

It’s not about the prestige of the club for Jose, it’s about winning and overcoming the challenge. Once he’s done both, he’ll be gone.

No surprise from Mourinho

That JM wants to manage elsewhere at some point isn’t surprising his CV considered. But he’s hardly unique that way.

Wenger surely is the only active manager who has stayed for as long as he has at his current club? And I’m pretty sure we won’t see anything like Wenger or especially SAF again.

I’d love for United to have a manager of Mourinho’s qualities stay and built another dynasty though. No doubt about that. But loyalty as it was years ago is dead in football today. Mourinho will be gone in two or three years. So will Guardiola at City and I bet Klopp at Liverpool. Just the way things are today.

That being said I think it’s a wee bit stupid to name specific other clubs you’d like to manage and stuff like that.

Unless of course it’s the old JM- trick of trying to get all the attention away from your players and onto yourself. After all, his comments were made the day after a pretty low key performance against Liverpool.

Media spin?

Mac – Have you seen Mourinho clarify his words now? Really infuriates me how the media can spin anything he says into negative b******. And how we always believe it!

‘For JM his CV comes before his club’

@happyhurling – He didn’t clarify his statement, he just said he hasn’t signed a contract with PSG (he said similar about United).

The forum and JM seem in agreement JM will only stay a few years before moving onto the next “challenge”. Its clear that for JM his CV comes before his club. He wants to win titles not for the club or fans but for his CV.

Posters have missed my point. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with it and agree in this age managers dont stay at a club for life. I’m saying if he cannot commit 100% to the club then I cannot commit 100% to him. IF he doesn’t deliver I’m not going to give him the unqualified support I would for a here-for-life manager.

Hey, imagine a wife says to her husband, let’s be realistic, in this age divorces are commonplace, the age of til death do us part is no more. Let’s do a pre-nup, arrange day care for the kids, keep our profiles on dating sites and talk openly about our personal ambitions in life.

I’d agree it is just being realisitic BUT that being the case I’m not going to have her name tattooed on my arm or give up my hobbies just for her !!!

PS – Do you believe the media correctly reported what he said in his interview or do you think they misquoted him?

MacGuffin

Mourinho’s commitment under scrutiny

Mac – Ok that’s fair enough. No, I don’t think they misquoted him but they knew exactly what message they were sending in the way they presented what he said.

He said that there are stories coming out every day that aren’t true, one day he’s signing a new 5 year contract and the next day he’s off to PSG, neither of which are true.

But the part of the interview they “reported” on was where he said he “doesn’t think” he will end his career at United.

And I didn’t read it as he doesn’t want to but simply because managers don’t stay in jobs that long any more. To quote Mourinho he said if he only wanted to manage for another 5 years then yeah, he’d be finishing his career here.

But he wants to manage for another 15 years and he “doesn’t think” it’s possible to b somewhere for 17 years in today’s environment.

I don’t think that means he’s not committed to us.

And if your wife still has her profile up on Match.com you better have words!! 😂😜
