Liverpool fans left fuming over ref appointment for Man Utd trip

Liverpool fans have reacted angrily after finding how who will be in charge of their trip to Manchester United on Saturday.

The Premier League announced on Tuesday that Craig Pawson will be in charge of the match at Old Trafford and that news has not gone down well on Merseyside.

So much is at stake when the two teams go head to head on Saturday as the battle to finish in the top four looks like it will go down to the wire.

Reds fans, however, are already predicting a bad afternoon for their team after the choice of referee was revealed.

Pawson officiated December’s Merseyside derby at Anfield and awarded a controversial penalty to Everton after Dejan Lovren fouled Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

That clash ended 1-1 after Wayne Rooney converted the spot kick and, at the time, Klopp accused Pawson of “opening the door” for the Toffees to take a point.

Following Tuesday’s announcement, one Reds supporter tweeted: “Craig Pawson the ref for the United game? Just give United the win now for f**** sake.”

Another added: “Craig Pawson the ref for our game on Saturday, we are getting stitched up.”
