Liverpool make enquiry for €25m Lazio defender – report

Liverpool have made an enquiry about Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij, according to a report in Italy.

The 25-year-old has made it clear to the capital club’s bosses that he has no intention of renewing his deal, which has 12 month to run.

And Calciomercato.com report that Liverpool have already made contact with his representatives with boss Jurgen Klopp a big admirer of the player.

Chelsea were also chasing the Dutch defender last summer with Antonio Conte also believed to be a fan of the imposing defender.

Lazio chief Claudio Lotito is believed to be looking for offers in the region of €25million for the centre-back and at that price tag is believed to have alerted Juventus.

The Turin-based club have been linked with a move for PSG man Marquinhos, but his €60million price tag has put off Juve and they are now keeping tabs on De Vrij.

De Vrij’s career with the Biancocelesti has been plagued by injuries since his arrival in 2014, but last season he emerged as a dependable defender and made 31 appearances, scoring two goals.#

The former Feyenoord man, who has 30 Holland caps, moved to Lazio for £5.95million in July 2014.
