Liverpool pair among seven PL stars shortlisted for Golden Boy award

The nominations have been released for the 2017 Golden Boy award and seven Premier League players have made the cut.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus have been listed along with Liverpool pair Joe Gomez and Dominic Solanke.

Everton forward Dominic Calvin-Lewin, Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker-Peters and West Ham midfielder Reece Oxford, who is currently on loan with Borussia Mönchengladbach, are also on the shortlist.

There are 25 players in contention for the award, which is now in its 14th year.

Paul Pogba, Raheem Sterling and Anthony Martial are among the recent winners, while Swansea loanee Renato Sanches took the honour last season.

The Golden Boy is an award given to a player under 21, playing in the top tier of European football, who has been the most impressive during the calendar year.

Around 30 journalists vote for the winner with representatives from L’Equipe, Bild, Marca and The Times getting the chance to vote.
