Liverpool refusing to let young striker make January loan exit

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly refusing to allow youngster Rhian Brewster to leave Anfield in January.

The 17-year-old forward had looked certain to make a temporary switch in the New Year but it would appear that Klopp wants to keep the player.

Brewster is currently out in India with England, who have reached the quarter-finals of the Under-17s World Cup, and is thought to have attracted the attention of a number of clubs.

Klopp, however, is said to feel that he is a little light on striking options and wants to keep Brewster in the mix upon his return from international duty, according to the report in the Daily Star.

Two players who do look certain to move on in January are winger Lazar Markovic and centre-half Lloyd Jones.

Markovic, 23, is yet to establish himself in the Anfield first-team, having joined the club from Benfica in 2014, and has spent previous spells on loan at Fenerbahce, Sporting Lisbon and Hull.

Jones, meanwhile, is not yet considered to be ready for Premier League football and is expected to be loan out for the second part of the season.
