Liverpool are set to rival Borussia Dortmund for €30million-rated Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud, according to reports.
Jurgen Klopp is targeting a move for 20-year-old midfielder Dahoud but faces competition from former club Dortmund for the highly rated midfielder, according to The Guardian.
Dahoud has attracted widespread attention from across Europe in his breakthrough season in the Bundesliga, and now Liverpool’s rivalry with Dortmund looks set to go beyond their Europa League quarter-final clash as they prepare a move for Dahoud.
Klopp is reportedly keen on securing the signature of Dahoud, a Germany under-21 international of Syrian descent, as he begins he rebuilding programme at Anfield.
Dahoud has enjoyed a brilliant season for Monchengladbach, playing alongside captain Granit Xhaka, a reported summer target for Arsenal.
With the futures of Ilkay Gündogan and Henrikh Mkhitaryan in doubt, Dortmund have been heavily linked with a move for the talented midfielder.
Liverpool manager Klopp has shown clear early indications that he is looking towards the Bundesliga for new recruits, with the Reds also heavily linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze.
Klopp has already secured a deal to sign Schalke defender Joel Matip on a free transfer this summer, while highly rated youngster Marko Grujic has also agreed a deal at Anfield in a £5.1million deal from Red Star Belgrade.
