Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has returned to full training following hip surgery and could be included on the bench for Saturday’s clash with Manchester United.
The 25-year-old returned to Merseyside last month after three months spent working with the medical and sports science staff at the Boston Red Sox and the England man has now returned to full contact training at Melwood.
The former Chelsea striker had been training on his own as he builds up his fitness after undergoing surgery in New York back in May.
Brendan Rodgers is unlikely to throw Sturridge back into the starting line-up just yet, but he may well opt to have him on the bench with Christian Benteke set to lead the line at Old Trafford.
Captain Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana missed training on Thursday and they look set continue on the sidelines. Henderson (foot) and Lallana (thigh) have missed the last two matches against Arsenal and West Ham and both sat out England’s recent double header.
