Liverpool striker Sturridge handed Serie A escape route

Daniel Sturridge has been linked with a move to AC Milan, according to a report.

The England forward is reportedly looking for a way out of Liverpool in a bid to salvage his World Cup hopes next summer.

Sturridge has scored three goals in 12 appearances this season, but he has made only four starts in all competitions and the striker is believed to be mulling over a January move.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has urged Sturridge to put aside any concerns he may have about his place in the side for the good of the club’s season.

Similar noises about a lack of game time and a January move were heard 12 months ago, but Klopp shrugged them off this week.

“I can imagine a player with his quality is not happy that he is not starting all the time, but that’s all,” said Klopp.

“The situation with the player is completely okay. At this moment we are in November and need all our players – even if he feels a little different.

“There is around one-and-a-half months before the window opens and I don’t think about things like this. There are so many games before then and I need all of them (his players).”

Italian website Calciomercato are reporting that Sturridge is a target for AC Milan.

Milan are only seventh in Serie A and the Rossoneri spent over £160m on summer transfers, but their season is in danger of collapsing.

They are understood to be suffering from financial difficulties and a loan move in January may well suit them.
