Liverpool will make a move for highly-rated Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell in the summer.
The 19-year-old defender is reportedly on the radar of Jurgen Klopp after the youngster’s impressive performances on loan at Huddersfield under his former assistant boss David Wagner.
The Liverpool Echo claim Liverpool are prepared to pay £5million for Chilwell, who played eight times on loan for the Terriers in the Championship earlier this season.
The Reds were linked with Chilwell in December and the Daily Telegraph claimed Klopp would make a move for the player when the transfer window reopened at the start of the year. That move did not materialise, but Klopp is eager to make a concerted attempt to get the youngster on board in the summer.
Arsenal are reported to have had a £3.5million bid for Chilwell turned down last summer, while Tottenham are also admirers of the England Under-20 star, but Liverpool want serious competition for Alberto Moreno.
The Echo claims Chilwell “is open to the idea of moving to Anfield”, but Leicester are likely to want in excess of £5million for the player, who has yet to appear in the Premier League, but who has made three starts in the cup competitions.
The Milton Keynes-born defender was Leicester’s Academy player of the year last season, and made his senior debut in the League Cup draw at Hull back in October.
