On-loan Empoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski suggests there is truth in rumours linking him with a move to Liverpool.

Zielinski has spent the last two seasons on loan at Empoli from Udinese, establishing himself as a key first-team member with 29 appearances this term.

Liverpool’s interest in the 21-year-old was first mooted in January, while earlier this month it was suggested the Reds were set to open talks with Udinese.

“Some people may think it’s only rumours but I know something more about it,” Zielinski told Futbolfejs.

“I am working hard with Empoli so that in June I may have a chance [to make] such a big transfer.”

Zielinski, who is expected to be a part of the Poland squad at the European Championships this summer, also revealed he has researched Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

“I have spoken with [former Dortmund midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski] who plays in Fiorentina now about Klopp,” he said.

“He told me about his personality, how is Klopp to the players, gave me some tips, but nothing is known yet.

“I constantly have to play well in Empoli to get the interest from the bigger clubs.”

An player who likes to operate in the final third, Zielinski could link up with Philippe Coutinho at Anfield, a prospect he admits excites him.

“Everyone knows Coutinho who is very technically gifted. He can shoot with either foot, no matter if it’s left of right,” he added.

“I think I have something in common with him. Coutinho is fast, he creates the game on the pitch.

“Definitely he is one of the best Liverpool players this season. I really like his style of play, I watch him closely.

“It would be great to play alongside Coutinho. I am sure we could be a good duo on the pitch. We’ll see what will happen.”
