Liverpool to bank £1m from Man City’s title triumph

Liverpool will bank £1million from Manchester City’s Premier League title triumph.

The terms of Raheem Sterling’s acrimonious transfer in 2015 stated that Liverpool would be paid the add-on if City were crowned champions.

That happened on Sunday when West Brom defeated Man Utd to leave City 16 points clear of their neighbours with just five games remaining.

City and Liverpool agreed an initial £44million fee for the England forward three years ago and a further £5million in performance-related add-ons.

Sterling, 23, has flourished under Pep Guardiola this season, scoring 17 goals and earning 12 assists in 29 Premier League appearances.

At the time Sterling became the most expensive English player of all time, before Kyle Walker’s £53million move to Man City last summer.
