Liverpool turn to Dortmund attacker as their major January signing

Liverpool are reportedly ready to launch a major bid to reunite Jurgen Klopp with Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international is poised to leave Dortmund when the transfer window opens in January after scoring an impressive 17 times in 19 games this campaign, according to the report in the Sunday Express.

The 28-year-old has been involved in a series of controversial incidents after Dortmund rejected a transfer request from him over the summer and the German giants are believed to be ready to part company with the attacker.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte also has Aubameyang very high on his wanted list but Liverpool are said to be the favourites to bring the prolific marksman to the Premier League, especially given Klopp’s connections with the player.

The Reds are expected to enter the transfer market as they look to seal a top-four spot this season, while they are also hoping that Manchester City somehow come unstuck after their brilliant start to the new season, in the race for the title.

Aubameyang’s potential arrival is also likely to signal the end of Daniel Sturridge’s injury-plagued stay at Anfield, with the latest reports suggesting that Serie A giants AC Milan could move for the frontman in January.

Sturridge is hoping to resurrect his flagging World Cup hopes with a move elsewhere for regular game time.
