Marko Grujic: Joined Liverpool in January

On-loan Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has revealed he still plays with fears of suffering another injury setback after recently returning to action from a lay-off.

Grujic became Jurgen Klopp’s first signing as Reds boss in January, joining from Red Star Belgrade for £5.1million.

The midfielder returned to the Serbian side on loan for the remainder of the season as part of the deal, and will link up with the rest of the Reds’ squad in the summer.

Grujic has been sidelined recently through injury, with the midfielder missing Belgrade’s last five matches.

It was claimed last week that Liverpool were unhappy with Red Star as they believed Grujic’s injury to have been misdiagnosed, but the 19-year-old has spoken out after returning to full training earlier this week.

“Finally I did a full training session with the rest of the team,” he told Mozzart Sport. “This is a big step forward, although I still feel a slight pain.

“Also, I feel the fear in my head, which is typical for such cases. When in a full sprint I’m afraid that something could break. Although it is not a cause for concern. I’ve done the training, it is important.”
