Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris admits Spurs have stumbled in the opening round of Premier League fixtures as they continue to seek their first win.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side lost to Manchester United on opening day, and followed that defeat with three consecutive draws against Stoke City, Leicester City and, most recently, Everton.

“The last month was very bad for us,” the France international told the Mail. “We need to improve quickly, gain confidence and rise up the table.

“It is not easy to start the season at Manchester United. We were unlucky to lose but we deserved what we got against Stoke because we were 2-0 up and drew 2-2. Then we were 1-0 up at Leicester and drew 1-1.

“You have to hold onto leads better. We lost those four points. We have a good squad, a good mentality and a good philosophy. We now need to keep going.”

Spurs return to league action against another side still without a win when they take on bottom-of-the-table Sunderland at Stadium of Light on Sunday.
