Jan Vertonghen has described Leicester’s style as ‘kick and run’ but accepts the Tottenham defender accepts their methods are effective.
Vertonghen’s Spurs were beaten by the high-flying Foxes 1-0 at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night, with centre-half Robert Huth scoring a late winner with a header from a set-piece.
Claudio Ranieri’s side sit in second place in the Premier League table, level on points with leaders Arsenal, and though Vertonghen believes the Foxes are predictable, he admits they play to their strengths well.
The Belgian defender said: “They always approach every game in the same way, so we knew what to expect. They kick every ball they get long and run. And when they don’t have the ball, they all defend. But it works for them.
“Everyone knows what their qualities are. It’s frustrating but they prepare well. They play the ball up to their strikers and are good from set-pieces. They play that game very well.”
