Shaw agent blasts media over ‘irresponsible’ Man Utd sale reports

Luke Shaw’s agent has angrily criticised the “irresponsible journalism” which claims the full-back will be sold by Manchester United this summer.

The England star, who missed most of last season after a horrific broken leg injury, has struggled under manager Jose Mourinho this season, making just 13 appearances in all competitions.

The 21-year-old only completed his comeback from injury in the summer after spending a year on the sidelines and his first-team chances have been limited this season due to an ongoing problem with his groin.

He has not made a Premier League appearance since October, and the Independent reported earlier this week that Shaw ‘is almost certain to be on his way out of Old Trafford’.

Chief football correspondent Miguel Delaney claimed that United will ‘be open to offers for Shaw’ in the summer, with Mourinho ‘frustrated at his lack of development’.

Delaney adds that “Shaw has not yet been completely written off,” but the left-back’s agent Jonathan Barnett has rubbished the story.

“I am angry with these reports suggesting Luke Shaw will leave Manchester United in the summer,” he told the International Business Times. “I am angry at the irresponsible journalism.

“Luke Shaw is happy at Manchester United and also, Manchester United are happy with him.”
