Lyon chief lays his stall out over Liverpool target Nabil Fekir

Outspoken Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has warned Liverpool that Nabil Fekir will cost a fortune this summer.

The attacking midfielder is though to be on Jurgen Klopp’s wanted list this summer, but reports over the weekend that a £60million deal was done were claimed to be premature by L’Equipe.

The French publication have indicated that Klopp will only make an approach for the 24-year-old after Saturday’s Champions League final.

But now the German coach may have second thoughts with Aulas revealing the player “would really like to stay” before claiming any potential suitors will have to be “very, very rich” to buy the World-Cup bound player this summer.

“There has been no contact with Liverpool or any other club so we haven’t discussed the future,” Jean-Michel Aulas told SFR Sport.

“I know that Nabil, now that we have qualified for the Champions’ League, would really like to stay, so we will discuss things calmly.

“He has magnificently won the right to go to Russia with France, which gives him an even higher standing.

“For the moment, nothing is done. You will have to be very, very rich to sign Nabil Fekir this year.”

Lyon secured Champions League football for next season with Saturday’s 3-2 win over Nice and afterwards Fekir is reported by the Daily Mirror to have said: “I spent an exceptional season here with players, fans and the staff. We ended up in beauty.

“You have to pass a course, it is true. I think I gave everything to Lyon. Now it is time to look into the future.”
