Manchester City are heading the race to sign Manchester United summer target Fabinho, according to a report.

The Monaco midfielder was understood to be Jose Mourinho’s no. 1 summer target and last week sports journal Lance claimed that United were the frontrunners to land the Brazil international.

While the same publication claimed last month Fabinho had urged the Ligue 1 side let him move to Old Trafford with the player fearing he is set to miss out on his “dream move”.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio also claimed United will go all out to land the 24-year-old, who is under contract until 2021, for what they feel is a bargain price of £44million.

But now TransferMarketWeb suggest Fabinho has agreed to join Man City. The brief report also suggests Borussia Dortmund have made an enquiry about the player, who is understood to have a €50million relelase clause.

As per the report, Pep Guardiola wants Fabinho as a long-term replacement for Yaya Toure, while they suggest City will pay the €70million price tag placed on his head.
