Gabriel Jesus: City bound

Manchester City have reportedly begun talks over a £20million deal for Palmeiras striker Gabriel Jesus.

City are understood to have gained ground on Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG in the race for the 19-year-old, with 15-minute phone call from Pep Guardiola said to have swung the balance in City’s favour.

According to the Daily Mail, should the deal go through, Jesus would be loaned back to Palmeiras until January, with the club in with a shout of winning the Brazilian championship.

The teenager has scored 26 goals in 67 appearances for the Sao Paulo-based club. A work permit may be difficult to obtain initially, but Jesus is expected to receive a call-up to the senior Brazil squad in the coming weeks.
