Incoming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants stars from Germany, Italy, Spain and Netherlands.
Guardiola has told City’s director of Football Txiki Begiristain he wants signings in place before the European Championship kicks off on June 10, according to the Sunday Mirror.
City have already agreed a deal in principle to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan for £25million, the newspaper claims, while talks have apparently reopened regarding the possibility of signing Paul Pogba from Juventus – a year after his £75million asking price and £300,000-a-week wage demands put the club off.
Real Madrid forward Isco is also back on City’s radar, the Mirror adds, but a move for Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte has apparently been put on hold after the Frenchman suffered a broken ankle.
The Sunday People, meanwhile, says City also had PSV Eindhoven left-back Jetro Willems watched by scouts in Netherlands’ friendly against France on Saturday.
Willems, 21, was on Newcastle United’s radar during the January transfer window but has been ‘scouted intensively’ since then by City having overcome injury problems from earlier in the season.
