Benjamin Henrichs: In high demand

Bayer Leverkusen defender Benjamin Henrichs will turn down the opportunity to move to the Premier League this month, according to his agent.

The 19-year-old full-back has been strongly linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola seeks long-term replacements for the likes of Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabaleta.

However, Henrichs’ agent has cooled the rumours by suggesting that any transfer away from the Bundesliga outfit would be the wrong move at this stage of his career.

“There are many clubs that are interested in Benjamin,” his representative Ali Bulut told Express. “But the boy is only 19 years old, last year he still played in the youth team.

“He is supposed to grow up first. In Leverkusen, he is in the best position at the moment.”
