Lucas Hernandez: Linked with City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is eyeing potential moves for a midfielder and a defender from La Liga.

City have been linked with 20-year-old Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez, and former Stoke midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.

N’Zonzi, 28, was reportedly a target for City in the summer, and Guardiola is keen on adding to the midfield due to Fernandinho’s discipline and Ilkay Gundogan’s long term injury.

The Sun report that Sevilla may entertain a potential departure for the Frenchman if there is a swap deal in place.

Manchester City man Samir Nasri is on loan at Sevilla from City, and they are keen on a permanent deal, while they may also look for a reunion with winger Jesus Navas.

Meanwhile, the Independent claim that Guardiola is looking to address the “suspect” Manchester City defence by adding Lucas Hernandez.

However, the report claims that Pep is willing to wait until the summer to make a move, as a buy in January would be “signing for the sake of it”.

City believe that continuing with Nicholas Otamendi and John Stones is more ideal than bringing in an inexperienced Hernandez.

Atletico president Miguel Angel Gil Marin recently stated that City had submitted bids last summer for both Hernandez and his 19-year-old left back brother Theo, who has been loaned out to Alaves.

The Sky Blues will apparently not return for Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci, the Independent goes on to claim, with the Italy international happy to stay in Turin long term.
