Manchester United veteran Michael Carrick is reportedly in talks over a new contract and a coaching role at the club.
The former England midfielder, who turns 36 in July, is out of contract this summer but Jose Mourinho appreciates his influence on and off the pitch and is ready to reward Carrick with a new deal, according to a report in The Sun.
Mourinho is expected to revamp his midfield next season, with Tottenham’s Eric Dier one of several names mentioned, but it would seem that Carrick is going nowhere.
So much so that the club also want him to coach the Under-23 team next season, as well as providing valuable squad depth.
Carrick has played more than 300 games for United and has been awarded a testimonial which will take place on June 4.
