Manchester United have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of a Lazio star as the Rome-based club are closing in on a replacement.
Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claims that Lazio are growing increasingly willing to sell Segej Milinkovic-Savic after reportedly targeting a summer swoop for Real Betis star Fabian Ruiz.
Ruiz has caught the eye in LaLiga this summer and has already been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Stoke interested.
Mundo Deportivo claimed on Monday that Ruiz is likely to join Lazio, with the Serie A outfit willing to activate the 21-year-old’s release clause to ensure a deal can be reached.
Ruiz recently penned a new deal with Betis which included a new release clause of £24.1million.
United, Real Madrid and PSG have all been linked with a move for Milinkovic-Savic, who is rated at around €90m by Lazio.
Jose Mourinho is reportedly searching for a replacement for Michael Carrick, with the veteran expected to leave at the end of the season.
