Manchester United face competition from both Milan clubs in the race to sign a talented Real Madrid midfielder, a report claims.
According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, both Inter and Milan are in the race to sign Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic this summer.
The Croatia international moved to LaLiga from Inter in a €29m deal back in the summer of 2016, and the report claims that the Nerazzurri tried to bring him back in January but were rebuffed in their attempts.
However, their sporting director Piero Ausilio still wants to get the deal done and will return in the summer, but his AC Milan counterpart Massimiliano Mirabelli – who worked at Inter – is also a big fan of Kovacic.
A report last month from Don Balon stated that Manchester United had made Kovacic their number one summer midfield target.
Meanwhile, the Spanish paper also claimed that Real were happy to part with the 23-year-old if it were to sweeten the deal for David de Gea.
