Reported Manchester United target Joao Mario may be allowed to leave Inter Milan in January, the Serie A club have confirmed.

The 24-year-old has found minute shard to come by at Inter this season, with director Walter Sabatini suggesting he could be angling for a move to cement his place in Portugal’s World Cup plans.

“We didn’t receive concrete offers, but we know that Joao Mario has the World Cup and wants to play more,” Sabatini told O Jogo.

“We’ll see what we’ll do now in January, we’ll meet in the next few days to decide it.”

A fee of €45million has been suggested in the press to secure Joao Mario, however a swap deal involving out-of-favour United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan is also reported to be being explored.
