James Rodriguez reportedly wants to leave Real Madrid this summer, but Karim Benzema has ruled out leaving the Bernabeu.
Rodriguez has grown tired of his lack of first-team opportunities at Real, according to Spanish tabloid Marca, and so will seek a move away from the capital this summer.
The Colombia forward started only 17 games in La Liga this season and was then left on the bench for Real’s Champions League final win over Atletico, a snub which was apparently the final straw for the 24-year-old despite his public insistence after the game that he remained happy at the club.
Real would rather not sell Rodriguez, it is said, but do not want to keep any player against his will and so could be willing to do business should their valuation of around £60million be met.
According to the Daily Star, Rodriguez has already been offered to Manchester United by his agent Jorge Mendes, who looks set to play a major part in Jose Mourinho’s remodelling of his squad at Old Trafford this summer.
Benzema staying put
One player that will not be leaving Real this summer, however, is Benzema, who says not even the opportunity of a reunion with Mourinho at United could tempt him away from the European champions.
“Mourinho was something special,” Benzema told Marca. “It did not go well at first, then it got better, with ups and downs.
“I’m not the player I was then when I was younger, and I’m proud that say that. But no club makes me dream like Real Madrid.
“I always say I’m at the best club in the world, with the stadium, the fans, with a level of playing that is very demanding, with the best players in the world.
“Away from here, I do not know where to go, really. I do not look at leaving to go to another place.
“This is the top. There are other clubs that can give a lot of money to play with them, but I do not like that.
“I like football and here is the best.”
Real refuse to give up on De Gea
Seperate reports in Spain, meanwhile, claim Real want to buy David de Gea this summer and then loan him back to United for the season to avoid losing Keylor Navas.
Only paperwork prevented Real from signing De Gea last summer, but the form of Navas has been so good that many fans believe a new goalkeeper is no longer needed.
However, Real are still determined to land De Gea, according to radio station Cadena COPE, though United and Mourinho are unlikely to agree to any deal, even if they get to keep the 25-year-old for another year, with the player himself thought to be happy to stay anyway following the arrival of the former Chelsea boss.
France U20 starlet on United’s radar
Manchester United are chasing Bordeaux’s teen sensation Adam Ounas, according to the Daily Mirror.
United are said to have already made contact with the 19-year-old’s representatives to gauge his interest in a summer move, though Bordeaux would likely want a big fee to part with the attacking midfielder, who is under contract until 2019.
Ounas made 28 appearances and scored six goals in a breakthrough season for the French club, with United scouts monitoring his progress closely.
