Manchester United are reportedly readying a £40m plus Luke Shaw deal, in their bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose.
Rose, who conducted a shock interview during the summer in which he slammed the club, has had a season to forget thus far.
The full back has been sidelined with a knee injury for the majority of the campaign, and was dropped by Mauricio Pochettino upon his return to the first team fold.
The club insists that there is no tension between Pochettino and his player, but it seems to be a case of when and not if Rose leaves North London.
Starsport believe Jose Mourinho has the England international as one of his key targets in January, which would make it hard for Spurs to hold onto their man.
The Starsport report was followed up by reports from The Mirror that suggest Mourinho will offer £40m plus Shaw to land Rose.
Shaw has endured a torrid time at United with injury, and has failed to win over Mourinho enough to be given regular first team opportunities.
Having worked with Pochettino when they were both at Southampton, The Mirror are adamant that the Englishman would be delighted to work alongside him again, if the opportunity aRose (pun intended).
Pochettino recently swerved any questions surrounding Rose’s future with Spurs, despite the mounting speculation around him leaving for the Red Devils.
He said: “This is not the moment to talk about that [Rose’s future]. All players have contracts with us, involved in our project.
“You cannot guess what is going to happen in the future.”
