Jose Mourinho is ready to sign a new £65million five-year deal at Manchester United.
Mourinho, who signed a three-year deal upon his appointment at Old Trafford last summer, has impressed at United’s hierarchy since replacing Louis van Gaal.
The club collected the Europa League and the EFL Cup in his first season in charge and have won nine out of their first 10 games ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Liverpool at Anfield.
And The Sun claims United are ready to offer him a bumper new deal, which will include huge bonuses for league positions and trophies.
Mourinho’s base salary of £250,000 a week will remain the same but his performance-related add-ons are set to significantly rise as part of the new package.
The new deal is also expected to tie him to Old Trafford until 2022.
The final details are yet to be agreed upon, but the Portuguese boss is apparently ready to commit his long-term future to Old Trafford.
When asked about his contract situation, Mourinho suggested he wanted to stay at Old Trafford for the long term.
“I can say I would like to stay many years,” he said. “I don’t need a new contract to work to my limits.
“I don’t have a problem to arrive at the end of my contract and be free to decide what I want to do and the club free to decide what they want to do.”
