Manchester United’s pursuit of Ivan Perisic appears to be cooling after report emerged that the Inter Milan winger is set for talks with the Serie A side.
Perisic’s agent Fali Ramadani arrived in Milan yesterday for contract talks with Inter, according to Tuttosport.
Ramadani is scheduled to meet Inter officials to discuss a new contract with the Serie A club as Perisic’s chances of joining Manchester United dwindle each day.
The 6ft 1in Croatia winger has agreed a contract with United, but Jose Mourinho’s men have yet to agree a price for the 28-year-old.
United are understood to have offered Perisic a €6million per season contract on offer at Old Trafford, while Inter are believed to be prepared to offer the player €4million a season, which will make him the second highest earner behind Mauro Icardi.
Inter are believed to have rejected several offers from United and are holding out for €55million, or according to the latest report, €5omillion and a loan deal for Anthony Martial.
Mourinho has already spent in excess of £160million this summer by adding Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic to his squad and he is keen to add Perisic, who he scouted earlier this year.
Mourinho was pictured in Zagreb in March, during the international break. The United boss went to check on the winger and meet up with long-time pal and transfer guru Predrag Mijatovic to get the ball rolling on a prospective deal.
Mourinho claimed he was in the dark over the deal last month, while Inter boss Luciano Spalletti more recently claimed: “Things are going in the right direction.”
Perisic, who scored in Inter’s 2-1 friendly win over Chelsea over the weekend, has a contract in Milan until 2020.
