Manchester City have been left on tenterhooks after Pep Guardiola revealed he will announce his plans for the future next week.
It is understood City’s hierarchy have made Bayern Munich manager Guardiola their number one target to replace Manuel Pellegrini.
The Spaniard – who moulded one of the greatest club sides of all time at Barcelona – is out of contract in Germany in the summer, although Bayern want to tie him down to a new deal.
And when asked about his future, the 44-year-old replied: “Tonight, I have no answer. Next week, you will know the answer. Next week there will be clarity.”
On Tuesday, former Bayern boss Ottmar Hitzfeld said he expects Guardiola to be managing at the Etihad Stadium next season.
Should Guardiola become available, then City will have a decision to make regarding current boss Pellegrini, who has another year to run on his current contract.
Meanwhile, they are also likely to face a fight to land their man, with Manchester United and Chelsea having also been linked with a move for the former Spain international.
