Leroy Sane: Wants to leave Schalke this summer

Man City have been given a boost in their reported pursuit of Leroy Sane, with Schalke manager Christian Heidel admitting he wants to leave.

The highly-rated 20-year-old forward has long been linked with a move away from S04 but, following comments made by his current boss, a transfer finally appears to be close.

“Leroy has made it clear, he would like to leave this summer,” Heidel told Sky Sports.

“We will consent to a transfer if Schalke’s conditions are met.”

Recent reports have suggested that Man City face competition from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid for his signature.

However, the Citizens appear to have seen off one potential rival after new Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti said at a press conference that he was happy with his squad despite a fresh injury setback for Arjen Robben.

He told reporters: “The team is very good. All positions are well staffed and we do not need new players for this season.

“We have very good young players here. You have to give them the opportunity to show it and to gain experience.”

Sane is not the only young player Man City are reportedly interest in, with West Ham starlet Reece Oxford also high on Pep Guardiola’s wishlist after an official approach was made.
